Prof Marie Wilson

Professor Marie Wilson

Senior Associate

Professor Marie Wilson was the foundation Chief Academic Services Officer for the University of South Australia (2020-2022) and a member of the Executive Team of the University, with responsibility for student services, academic administration, student equity and engagement, and UniSA International during the COVID lockdown. She has recently completed a project on the future of UniSA operations, and is on sabbatical for 2022.

Professor Wilson has a track record of delivering in both industry and university leadership. In her former role (2013-2020) as leader of the UniSA Business School, she led the School in top level accreditations, international awards for innovation and student services, and repeated commendations for its enterprising research culture. Prior leadership roles at Griffith University and The University of Auckland involved leadership of organizational transformation in large infrastructure projects, reform of postgraduate education and development of research culture. 

Marie is a well-regarded peer reviewer for EQUIS accreditation (2014-) and is a member of the EQUIS Committee for the European Foundation for Management Development. She has been a long term peer reviewer for the Business Higher Education Roundtable awards (now Engagement Australia) and an advocate for University-Industry engagement.

Marie has studied and worked across the globe and has been a senior manager in strategy and HRM for seven public companies, including one of the world’s largest IT firms.  She is also a member of the State Advisory Council (SA/NT) of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) and sponsor of CEDA’s Women Leadership program for over ten years.

Marie holds a Juris Doctor in contract and employment law, a PhD in management, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Her research focus is the management of performance (with a focus on professionals and knowledge work), and judgment and decision-making in professional settings.  Her most recent work has established new insights into clinical decision-making. She leads the Future Workplace project at the Centre for Workplace Excellence.
