Professor Barbara Comber

Barbara Comber is a Professor Emeritus in the Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion, Education Futures at Adelaide University. Her current role mainly involves research mentoring and designing research development and writing workshops for academics. Her studies incorporate institutional ethnography, critical discourse analysis, longitudinal case studies and collaborative action research. Her research interests include teachers' work, critical literacy, social justice and creative pedagogy. Two recent books reflect these interests and her long-term collaborations with front-line educators - Literacy, place and pedagogies of possibility (Comber, 2016) and Literacy, leading and learning: beyond pedagogies of poverty (Hayes, Hattam, Comber, Kerkham, Thrupp & Thomson, 2017).
